General Information/Duties:

 

Float Preschool Teacher

  • Collaborates in planning and participating in individual and group activities to stimulate growth in literacy, language, mathematics, science, social, and motor skills, such as learning to respond to stories read aloud, listening to instructions, playing with others, using senses to explore and manipulate classroom materials, and using play equipment
  • Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for a learning environment for children with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturity
  • Develops in each child an awareness of his/her worth as an individual and their role in family and community
  • Encourages children to express themselves creatively in art, music, movement, dramatic and play
  • Provides a welcoming and supportive climate to establish and reinforce acceptable child behavior, attitudes, and social skills.
  • Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, and exhibits of children's work
  • Provides individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs of children in communication skills, health habits, physical skills, and development of self-concepts
  • Maintains routine schedule of observations, data collection, data input, and interpretation
  • Plans and coordinates the work of associate teachers, parents, students, and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips
  • Communicates regularly with parents utilizing a newsletter, notes, phone calls, home visits, and individual parent conferences
  • Promotes parent participation & involvement in education activities provided for their children
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings, events, or trainings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Preschool Director

 

After Preschool Care Provider

  • Supervise preschool aged students after school
  • Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use, hand washing)
  • Ensure a safe and conducive environment for growth and learning consistent with program standards and licensing regulations
  • Work cooperatively with the director concerning accommodation plans for children with special needs
  • Work as the resource person for complex discipline and physical situations that require intervention, screening, and follow-up
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children and staff.
  • Effectively and consistently communicate and interact with children, parents, and staff
  • Attend all mandatory staff meetings, events, or trainings
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Child Care

Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience as a teacher or teacher assistant in a licensed daycare/preschool program
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) or Bachelor's degree in elementary education, preferred
  • CPR, First Aid, and Blood Borne Pathogen certified or willing to obtain certification upon hire
  • Reliable method of transportation
  • High moral character, integrity, and strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Complies with licensing, state, and national quality standards
  • Able to lift 30 lbs.
  • Occasional reaching/stooping/bending/kneeling/crouching
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day with frequent prolonged standing/walking/moving
  • Must be able to read and speak English
  • Must be able to see, hear, and move intermittently or use prosthetics that will enable you to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met

 

Terms of Employment:

Hourly M-F 9:30am – 5:30pm, non-exempt position.
