Reports to: Building Principal
Work Schedule: Reports to assigned school building each school day
Employment Status: This position is hired and employed through EDUStaff.
The Premier Instructional Assistant supports students with special needs in accessing and understanding curriculum through individualized strategies and a student-centered approach. This position collaborates closely with instructional staff, ensures a safe and supportive learning environment, and serves as a key resource in both academic and behavioral intervention.
General Information/Duties:
- Assist students with special needs to best understand curriculum by adapting to their learning style based on building need for that day
- Ensure a safe and conducive environment for growth and learning consistent with policies and standards
- Work cooperatively with the teacher concerning accommodation plans for students
- Work as the resource person for complex discipline and physical situations that require intervention, screening, and follow-up
- Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information
- Effectively and consistently communicate and interact with students, parents, and staff
- Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- High moral character, integrity, and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Experience working with children with special needs and prior experience in special education settings preferred
